Where to look
Eggplant, arugula, radish and young brassicas.
How to know it
Tiny shiny black beetles that jump like fleas when disturbed, leaving leaves peppered with shot-holes.
What it does — and what to do
Cosmetic on a big plant, fatal on a seedling. Cover new transplants for the first three weeks and they will outgrow it.
