- Where it holds
- Mangrove roots, bridge lights, passes and beach troughs in south Florida.
- How to know it
- A sharp black lateral line running right through the tail, and a sloped forehead over an underslung jaw.
- What to know
- Structure-loving and hard on tackle. Highly regulated with seasonal closures and a tight slot.
- The tactic
- Live bait or a white jig worked tight to structure, especially on a night tide under lights.
- Caution
- Cold snaps kill snook; the season closes to protect them. Always check current rules.
