Mar–Jun — March, April, May, June, September, October, November. Earlier in the south, later in the north.
Where it holds
Grass flats, deeper holes and passes; moves with water temperature.
How to know it
Silver-grey with distinct round black spots on the back and tail, and two prominent canine teeth.
What to know
Not a trout at all but a drum. Best on a moving tide over grass.
The tactic
Soft plastic under a popping cork, worked across the flat.
