- Mar–Jun — March, April, May, June, September, October, November. Earlier in the south, later in the north.
- Where it holds
- Grass flats, deeper holes and passes; moves with water temperature.
- How to know it
- Silver-grey with distinct round black spots on the back and tail, and two prominent canine teeth.
- What to know
- Not a trout at all but a drum. Best on a moving tide over grass.
- The tactic
- Soft plastic under a popping cork, worked across the flat.
